Marina Beach holds a rich history, with its origins tracing back to the early 1880s when Governor Mountstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff of Madras Presidency, inspired by similar promenades in Europe, ordered its construction. What was once a marshy and relatively undeveloped coastline was transformed into a picturesque promenade and recreational area.
