History

Kanyakumari, historically known as Cape Comorin, has a rich and ancient past, deeply intertwined with Indian mythology, trade, and spirituality. The town derives its name from Devi Kanya Kumari, a virgin goddess, an incarnation of Parvati, believed to have performed penance here to obtain Lord Shiva as her husband.
