History

Built during the 15th century by Rana Kumbha of the Mewar kingdom, Kumbhalgarh Fort played a pivotal role in the region's history. It is famously known as the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, one of Rajasthan's greatest warriors. The fort remained unconquered for centuries, with its colossal walls and strategic design providing impregnable defense against invading armies, except once when it fell briefly to the combined forces of Mughal Emperor Akbar, Raja Man Singh I of Amer, and Raja Udai Singh of Marwar. Its construction involved advanced engineering techniques for its time, with massive walls, bastions, and sophisticated water harvesting systems.
